Frame of the Month: HOFFMAN HORN

We are so excited to introduce a new frame line to SIGHT. Hoffman Horn is an all natural frame line created with horn and of the highest handmade quality. Below is a brief background on the line and a deeper look into how this beautiful product is designed and made:

Since 1978 the HOFFMANN frame makers from Kelberg in the volcanic Eifel have been handcrafting natural horn frames. Long years of experience of working with this unusual material, a flair for perfection and unmistakable design make the work of these specialists into a triumph of the art of handcrafting.

The design of HOFFMANN is created using traditional handcrafting techniques, they reflect modern design both in shape and colour. Whether delicate or striking, these natural horn frames are unrivalled pieces.

HOFFMANN natural horn frames are created from the horn of the Indian water buffalo. The Washington Convention on Endangered Species does not apply to these agricultural animals. Although the horns of a water buffalo can be up to two metres in length, only a small part of the horn is suitable for a spectacle frame. From this small part we select only those pieces which fulfil our criteria regarding the quality of the material and a harmonious and unusual colouring. The making of a horn frame does not pollute the environment. The only waste products are horn shavings, which serve as a natural fertiliser.

Each model from HOFFMANN NATURAL EYEWEAR is made as an individual, one-off piece, allowing special customer wishes to be taken into account. In this way frames are created whose equal will be sought in vain in the marketplace and which let their owners feel they are wearing something very special. With justification, as each HOFFMANN frame is one of a kind, distinguished by individual effects of structure and unique colour combinations.

Sunglass of the Month: CHROME HEARTS

Are you a detail oriented individual with an appreciation for both style and comfort? Yes! So are we.
This Chrome Hearts sunglass frame entitled The Beast 1 is by far the most luxurious of all. It is made of sterling silver with Albino Madrone, White Ebony Wood, crushed mother of pearl inlay and all hand carved detailing. To hold them is to love them, and ultimately have them!

Our choice of frame for MAY is the ultra light and super stylish LANA ($599) from ORGREEN. We love the two-tone color and the retro curve along the eyebrow.

Our MAY sunglass of choice is the uber stylish frames from the famed line, Chrome Hearts. The frame is made of sterling silver, with wooden temples and all hand carved detailing. It is appropriately named THE BEAST ($1695).

Coachella 2012 in the Shade

Coachella 2012 starts THIS WEEKEND! And for the first year ever it will be a 2-weekend long experience. If you were unaware of this music extravaganza until now, let us briefly summarize its greatness: hundreds of bands, musicians and artists alike ascend on the city of Indio, California, which is part of the California Desert. People, hipsters, celebs and general lovers of music come together and listen to different genres of music - always original, never processed, and ultra unique. Along with the great music comes thousand of people decked out in some of the most stylish gab for the year. As soon as tickets for the event sold out (they sold out 3hrs after release this year on Jan 13th) every fashion know-how, blogger and magazine alike was talking about WHAT TO WEAR for the 2012 festival.

The WHAT TO WEAR screams bohemian chic meets rebel hippie and consists of the denim cut-off, flowy tank, layered necklaces, maxi skirts, men's button downs and strappy sandal/boot/converse. Everyone has their own individual take on Coachella's style, but the one fashion constant is EYEWEAR. This fashion accessory is arguably the most prominent (sitting on the face) and most important (considering the glaring desert sun). The team at SIGHT did some homework and we're excited to share our top eyewear pics for Coachella 2012!
