This month we had a visit from MYKITA MYLON. This high fashion and high function sport-lux eyewear line is beautifully designed, thought out, and well executed. Our wonderful rep Lyle sat with a few of our team members and educated us on the production process. In Mykita's own words we quote:
"The evolution of the MYKITA MYLON frames began with a production process that promised to revolutionise the history of manufacturing; Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) enables the creation of three-dimensional objects of any desired geometry without any tooling."
The frames are build up from an Ultrafine Polyamide Powder which is used with the laser sintering process. A 3D CAD model of the frame is created and its data transfers to the sintering machine. After sintering, the frame surface is white and very coarse. Mykita then uses their award-winning and patented process to finish the raw parts and finally they become MYKITA MYLON frames. Not only are their frames phenomenal, but so are their sunglass lenses.
"All MYKITA MYLON sunglasses are equipped with specially developed lenses made by Zeiss. They all provide 100% protection against harming UV-rays, functional mirrors as well as scratch-resistant nano-coatings for a better optical performance."
A few MYKITA MYLON points to leave you with:
- Extreme stability and durability
- Low weight (30% lighter than acetate frames)
- Unlimited possibilities in terms of design and shapes
- Thermal adaptability, fully adjustable to wearer's features
- Unique fit & feel
Stop by our window to view MYKITA MYLON frames for yourself and stay tuned as we feature different styles!
